Japanese container line ONE claims to have loaded the most boxes ever on one vessel.
Its 20,146-teu MOL Tribute (built 2017) took on 19,190 teu earlier this month, it said.
The previous world record was reported as 19,038 teu on Maersk Line's 20,568-teu Mumbai Maersk (built 2018) last August.
The MOL Tribute is deployed on ONE’s Far East Loop 2 service for THE Alliance line grouping.
It achieved the new mark on its Singapore westbound departure to northern Europe on 11 February.
ONE said the record was made possible "by the strong customer support to this service, excellent performance and cooperation of the terminal operators, as well as the continuous challenges made by ONE’s stowage planners and shipping crew to optimise vessel’s capacity and cargo weight distribution".
