Members of THE Alliance have revealed more details of their collaboration ahead of the kick off of their joint operations in 2017.
Hapag-Lloyd, MOL, K Line, NYK and Yang Ming said they would deploy 240 modern boxships on 31 services covering all East-West trade lanes.
The five members said in a joint statement: “The product of THE Alliance is a milestone which will significantly improve the service offering for all shippers on the East West trade lanes.
“Our best ship for the loop principle and dedicated shuttle service design are the basis for one of the most competitive products available in the market.”
THE Alliance will go up against rivals 2M and Ocean Alliance when it starts operations in April 2017, if it gets the green light from all relevant authorities.
Aiming at faster transit times, vessels working for THE Alliance will connect more than 75 major ports, while there will be one dedicated service for customers in the Middle East.
