The crew of a small ro-ro have issued a call for help after the vessel suffered mechanical problems and developed a list in the Caribbean.

The seafarers and unspecified sources said the 940-lane-metre Indigo I (built 1990) is listing at 35 degrees, according to maritime news site Paraguay Fluvial & Logistica.

Maritime databases say the Panama-flag ship is controlled by Paraguay’s Independencia Shipping, which could not be immediately reached for comment.

The 14 crew members are mostly Venezuelan.

The Indigo I was travelling from Panama to Cuba when it developed serious mechanical failures, including damage to its engine block and problems with its crankshaft, the news site reported.

Tracking data from VesselsValue shows that the ship is currently “not under command”.
