Nasdaq-listed owner Castor Maritime has secured more work for its expanding bulker fleet.
The Cypriot company said Hong Kong operator Ausca Shipping has taken its 75,000-dwt panamax Magic Sun (built 2001) at $12,500 per day for three to four months, starting this week.
All four of its bulkers are now booked until at least September.
At the end of July, the company said it had acquired a Japanese-built panamax - its fifth ship - for nearly $12.8m from an unaffiliated third-party seller. The identity of the 2010-built vessel was not disclosed.
In June, it bought the 74,000-dwt Magic Rainbow (built 2007) from Diana Shipping.
It has fixed this ship for three to five months at $10,300 per day.
CEO and CFO Petros Panagiotidis said: "We are extremely pleased that, despite the various challenges presented by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we have successfully completed the Magic Rainbow acquisition, just a few weeks after the conclusion of two capital raising transactions that significantly bolstered our capital structure.
Value creation
"The acquisition of the Magic Rainbow together with our previously announced acquisition of our fifth vessel is a testament of our determination to rapidly grow our fleet and create value for our shareholders."
He added: "We are equally satisfied to have been able to contract, in this volatile market environment, two out of our four vessels at competitive and above breakeven charter hire rates, providing us with further stability and visibility of cash flows."
