Singapore-based bulker owner Berge Bulk has sold another VLOC for demolition as it continues to trim older large bulkers from its fleet.
The outfit has sold the 289,000-dwt Berge Kibo (built 1993) on an as-is basis in Labuan, Malaysia, shipbrokers said.
The vessel has fetched $375 per ldt, or $14m in total, and is likely to be scrapped in Pakistan, the sources said.
The James Marshall-led company does not comment on commercial matters.
This sale means Berge Bulk has sold nine large bulkers for scrap since the beginning of 2019.
The company still controls several 1990s built capesizes, including its oldest bulker, the 384,000-dwt ore carrier Berge Stahl (built 1986).
Berge Bulk is in the middle of an extensive newbuilding programme, which includes a number of newcastlemax bulkers under construction at Bohai Shipbuilding.
The company's fleet also includes 17 handysizes and seven ultramax bulkers.
