Norwegian shipowner Hans Peter Jebsen continues to trim his fleet.

His family company, Bergen-based SKS Jebsen Skipsrederi, has sold its last two combination carriers for around $30m en bloc, according to shipbrokers.

The vessels are the 120,700-dwt SKS Mosel and 120,500-dwt SKS Mersey (both built 2003).

The SKS Mosel has already changed its name to Sabaek and is believed to be linked to Sabaek General Trading Co in Kuwait.

Despite repeated efforts, SKS Jebsen Skibsrederi declined to comment on the sales reports. VesselsValue said the SKS Mosel and SKS Mersey are worth around $28m in total.

Since February last year, Jebsen has sold at least eight mostly elderly ships for $173m. Many of them have eventually been sold for demolition.

Over the past six years, Jebsen has cut its tankers and OBO fleet from 28 to 11 or 12 vessels. Between 2016 and 2020, it wrote down the value of its fleet by $285m.

Its 2020 annual report said it was in talks with creditors over a debt refinancing deal.

The company controls two 82,000-dwt Japanese-built bulkers, the BTG Ulriken (built 2020) and BTG Apo (built 2021). It also has a fleet of 14 cement carriers with Japan Marine United.
