Denmark's Celsius Shipping has again shown its nose for timing by selling another of the 12 ultramax bulkers that the company bought on the bottom of the market in 2016.
Brokers in the US said the shipowner sold the 63,000-dwt GH Seabird (built 2016) for $21.5m.
Company chairman Jeppe Jensen confirmed that the vessel has been sold, but he declined to comment on the identity of the buyer.
Celsius bought the Yangfan Group-built bulker from Italy's d'Amico Group for $17m in a resale deal. This year, the outfit has sold on four bulkers from its 2016 ultramax buying spree.
The company has a diversified fleet with bulkers, tankers, containerships and an LNG carrier.
Celsius has also carried out profitable asset plays in the containership sector.
In March, TradeWinds reported that the company sold the 3,534-teu GH Scirocco (built 2009) to an undisclosed buyer for $14.5m. The shipowner had purchased the vessel for just $6.2m in 2017.
Celsius has also been active as a buyer this year.
In March, Jensen confirmed that Celsius purchased two 50,000-dwt product tanker newbuildings from a Chinese shipyard for delivery this year.
There are also unconfirmed reports that Celsius has bought the 2,500-teu containerships BSL Limassol (built 2002) and BSL Cape Town (built 2003) from Tufton Oceanic Assets.
Founded in 2012, Bayside Capital and Breakwater Capital-backed Celsius has a fleet of more than 50 ships.
