Two senior figures are leaving Costamare Bulkers two years after helping establish the Greek shipowner in the dry cargo market.

Best known as a container ship owner, Costamare stressed it remained committed to its bulker arm following the move.

Former Oldendorff pair Kishore Anchan and Tom Hagen have left with immediate effect as managing directors of Costamare Bulkers in Hamburg, according to an internal memo sent to staff today.

Their exit leaves a third former Oldendorff executive, Jens Jacobsen, as the main senior figure at Costamare Bulkers globally.

Jacobsen heads the Costamare Bulkers operation from Copenhagen, where he was recruited in 2022 as the shipowner diversified into the business.

He will lead the operation in connection with other senior Costamare executives.

Anchan and Hagen are departing the Hamburg office, where Costamare Bulkers has a team of between 15 and 20 people.

Anchan previously headed Oldendorff’s capesize chartering team as executive director and Hagen was head of the Hamburg panamax desk, as TradeWinds reported when they were first recruited.

Costamare Bulkers is also active in Monaco, Athens and Tokyo.

The Costamare memo did not explain why the pair are leaving but did note their contribution in setting up the company and wished them well for the future.

“We do remain committed to the growth and success of CBI [Costamare Bulkers Inc], which has been a strategic decision for us,” the note said.

“Our goal has always been, and remains to be, the creation and further expansion of a first-class dry bulk operator providing high-quality services to clients worldwide.”

Costamare has been active in the dry cargo sale-and-purchase market this year and TradeWinds is told it remains committed to the operating and ownership of bulkers.

It operates more than 50 bulkers and an owned fleet of just under 40, according to its last earnings statement.

Its second-quarter report showed the sale of two smaller bulkers and the purchase of two capesize vessels.

This week, Costamare is being connected to the purchase of two ships from Oldendorff, the 61,100-dwt August Oldendorff (built 2015) and 60,900-dwt Alwine Oldendorff (built 2014), for about $50m in total.
