Louis Martel conceded that it is a "little awkward" for the Montreal native to be a diehard Boston Bruins ice hockey fan.
Montreal is home to what is arguably the National Hockey League’s most iconic name, the Montreal Canadiens.
“Fortunately or unfortunately, I’m a huge Bruins fan,” the CSL chief executive said. “Sometimes it is a little awkward. I have continuous jokes with my owners. I keep saying we ought to move the office to Boston.”
New England
CSL Americas does have an office just north of Boston. Martel lived in the area for a few years during his stint with the division.
During that time, he became an avid fan of Boston’s other professional sports teams: baseball’s Boston Red Sox, American football’s New England Patriots and basketball’s Boston Celtics.

His daughter lives in nearby Rhode Island, deepening his ties to New England.
Yet Martel admitted he was a Bruins fan long before his move to Massachusetts.
But Martel is not just a fan of ice hockey. He is an avid player.
When TradeWinds visited him, he had played the night before in a game with his 22-year-old son, Louis.
“Louis is a very good hockey player — he’s a very high level defenceman,” Fednav chief executive Paul Pathy said, who also plays.
“CSL are good friends of ours and we sometimes have joint practices with them. Louis can skate rings around most of the younger people on the ice.”
Martel also keeps fit with cycling, recounting that he and his wife had just covered more than 480 km (300 miles) the previous week while on vacation in Quebec.
