Greek owner Dalex Shipping has dismissed broker information it acquired a seven-year-old handysize bulker.

European and US brokers previously identified the company as buyer of the 37,000-dwt Ocean Neptune (built 2012).

The vessel, owned by Glory Maritime of Japan, is said to be changing hands for $13.65m to $13.8m, which is roughly in line with expectations.

Dalex managing director Vassilis Dalacouras, however, told TradeWinds the reports were inaccurate and that his company was never interested in buying the Hyundai Mipo-built ship.

Clients of Dalex bought two Japanese-built handysize bulkers last year, with the Greek company acting as their third-party manager.

In June the 28,300-dwt Global Standard (built 2010) was purchased for $10m and in September the 29,600-dwt Global Bay (built 2009) for $8.3m.

Dalex is listed with a fleet of 15 handysize bulkers with an average age of eight years.
