New Taylor Maritime Investments (TMI) director Gordon French has taken a stake in the company.
The London-listed handysize specialist said the independent board member bought 100,000 shares at $1.015 each for an outlay of $101,500.
This is a stake of less than 1%. The stock was trading at $1.02 on Monday.
Former bankers French and Rebecca Brosnan were brought in last month from Singapore subsidiary Grindrod Shipping as senior figures stepped down.
They replaced the retiring Frank Dunne and Chris Buttery, the renowned shipping dealmaker and father of London-listed TMI’s chief executive Ed Buttery.
French was head of global banking and markets for Asia-Pacific at HSBC, based in Hong Kong.
Having served 33 years, French retired from his role at HSBC at the end of 2020.
He had served on the Grindrod Shipping board since 2023 and retired on 30 September.
TMI made Grindrod a wholly-owned subsidiary earlier this year.
Brosnan has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking, financial markets and commodities.
She is the founder and chief executive of publisher the Halo Planner and is based in Hong Kong, where she has been on the board of Singapore-headquartered shipowner Grindrod since 2022.
Brosnan was previously chief financial officer and head of strategy of Diginex, an ESG and sustainability technology business.
She was also the chief operating officer and finance boss of Mother’s Choice and head of Asia commodities and head of strategy and business development at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
