Bermuda-based owner Interlink Maritime has banked cash from the latest in a string of bulk carrier sales.

The company exercised an option to buy back the bareboat-chartered 39,000-dwt open-hatch handysize Interlink Dignity (built 2015) from lease financier Ocean Yield of Norway.

The vessel was then flipped to UK fund Tufton Oceanic Assets for $26.3m, according to shipbrokers.

Ocean Yield said it had received gross proceeds of $11.5m from the deal, resulting in a small book profit.

VesselsValue assesses the carrier as worth $24.8m.

The Interlink Dignity was acquired by Ocean Yield from Interlink in 2018 for $15.7m.

Interlink has sold 12 other bulkers so far in 2022.

Four handysizes went to Greek interests in an en-bloc deal in March for a total of $105m.

And in March, Dubai’s Tomini Shipping was said to have purchased four handysize vessels from Interlink for around $102m en bloc, with charters attached.

Shipping databases show that the vessels acquired are the 39,900-dwt Chinese-constructed bulkers InterLink Audacity, Interlink Affinity, Interlink Tenacity and Interlink Utility (all built 2016).

A sister ship acquired

London-listed Tufton Oceanic had said earlier this month it had acquired a handysize bulker for $26.3m.

The ship is a sister to the 38,800-dwt Mai Tai (built 2015), which was added from Interlink in March.

Interlink is not just a seller, however.

In January, the company bought the 38,700-dwt Interlink Priority (built 2015) for an undisclosed price from Ocean Yield.

With nine of 13 operational ships still to be delivered to buyers, the Interlink fleet will shrink to four vessels.
