MX Bulk Management has reportedly sold two modern kamsarmax newbuildings under construction at a Chinese shipyard amid rising values.

Brokers told TradeWinds that the Isle of Man-based bulker owner has offloaded the 82,000-dwt Una Manx and Ursula Manx, possibly to Shandong Shipping of China for $29.5m apiece.

The price tag is lower than VesselsValue's estimate that the ships are worth nearly $28m each. Prices for vessels of the bulkers have been rising, with the valuation platform showing the ships were worth about $26.7m each in November.

The Una Max is scheduled for delivery in June from Tsuneishi Group Zhoushan Shipbuilding. Its sistership is slated for delivery a year later.

Shandong Shipping did not reply to requests for comment on the transaction.

MX Bulk chief executive Sean Dawson said it is the company’s policy not to comment on commercial matters.

MX Bulk entered the kamsarmax segment in 2019 with an order for three sisterships at Tsuneishi Zhoushan for a reported $33m each.

The company's website lists a fleet of three ultramax bulkers and five newbuildings. All of the its ships were built or are under construction at Tsuneishi Zhoushan.

Last year, MX Bulk sold another Tsuneishi Zhoushan-built bulker, the 63,000-dwt Isabella Manx (built 2019), to Abu Dhabi’s Adnoc Logistics & Services for $25.8m.

In recent days, brokers have also reported that two supramaxes that are managed by MX Bulk have also been reported sold.

The Hyundai Vietnam-built 55,000-dwt Sheffield (built 2010) was sold for $9.4m, while the Peterborough (built 2009) changed hands for $9.1m.
