Staff working in operations and in emissions monitoring are leaving from Danish owner-operator Norden in the latest in a line of departures.
The Copenhagen-listed company told TradeWinds it is meanwhile recruiting new personnel.
Heading for the exit in the future is Adam Nielsen, who has spent his whole career to date at Norden and will be leaving his position as head of logistics and climate solutions.
Nielsen’s position was created as Norden initiated its first transshipment project with the aim of developing lower-carbon freight services for customers.
The company has hopes to develop further projects similar to the manganese ore transshipment project it operates for Comilog in Gabon.
Anders Bo Wickmann, head of supramax operation in the Atlantic, is also leaving after more than five years at Norden.
Wickmann is thought to be joining bulker operator BaltNav. He follows Line Lund Clausen, who resigned in mid-March from her position as Norden’s head of supramax in the Atlantic to become a partner at the operator.
Calls to Nielsen and Wickmann on Thursday went to voicemail.
“It is correct that we have some leavers this month, just like we also have a handful of joiners,” a spokesperson for Norden told TradeWinds.
“Norden, a global company of around 500 employees, continues to have a high retention rate.”
Earlier in April, Christian Vinther Christensen exited as chief operating officer of Norden’s asset-light Freight Services & Trading unit after more than seven years at the company.
Christensen is stepping back from corporate life to take something of a career break.
“We never want to say goodbye to good people leaving Norden, but the reality is that for example in Christian’s case, yes, he wants to pursue a different type of career, which is fine. He will remain a friend and close contact of Norden, so no issues there,” CEO Jan Rindbo told TradeWinds after Christensen’s exit was announced.
Rindbo said he thinks the recent rush of departures from the owner-operator probably seems “more dramatic when you sit on the outside”.
Rindbo celebrated his 50th birthday and 30 years in shipping on Wednesday.
