Line Lund Clausen has resigned from her position as Norden’s head of supramax in the Atlantic to join bulker operator BaltNav.
Her resignation follows the departure of four staff from Norden’s panamax chartering department early in March, who left to join George Economou’s Classic Maritime.
Clausen is set to join BaltNav in the next few months, according to communications circulated in the market by Norden staff and seen by TradeWinds.
“We can confirm that Line Lund Clausen has decided to pursue other opportunities outside of Norden. We thank her for her significant contribution to Norden and wish her all the best going forward,” the company said in a statement.
BaltNav declined to comment when approached by TradeWinds. Calls to Clausen went straight to voicemail.
Clausen began her shipping career as a trainee in 1999 with J Lauritzen, where she rose through the ranks to become head of cargo desk projects in 2012.
She joined broker SimChart in 2014 and Norden in 2017 as senior chartering manager.
She became head of supramax chartering in the Mediterranean in 2020.
“When I joined Norden, one thing that I liked about it was that there were already a few women in commercial positions,” Clausen said in an interview published on Norden’s website in 2021. “It’s important to show that women can thrive and that everyone can achieve their goals in different ways.”
During the first week of March, four of Norden’s panamax chartering staff in Singapore and Copenhagen resigned to join capesize owner Classic Maritime.
Thomas Kobbel, vice president and head of panamax, and senior chartering managers Jannick Madsen and Emil Mortensen have departed from Norden in Copenhagen. Senior chartering manager Nicolai Syse also resigned in Singapore.
The new hires represent the first foray into the panamax segment by Classic, which is controlled by Greek shipowner George Economou.
