Norwegian asset manager Ness, Risan & Partners (NRP) has added another bulker to its fleet in tandem with a Greek shipowning partner.

The company said it has bought and taken delivery of the 28,219-dwt handysize King Corn (built 2011) in a partnership with Tide Line.

The Greek owner, which already has four handysizes under its control, will be the commercial and technical manager of the ship.

The seller was Nelson Shipping Corp, while the operator was Sanasia Shipmanagement in Hong Kong.

The bulker has now been renamed Ammos. VesselsValue assesses the unit as worth $7.23m.

Growing fleet

Clarksons lists NRP with five other handysizes, a supramax and a feeder containership.

Earlier this year, the asset manager announced a sale-and-purchase deal with Japanese partners for a new multipurpose boxship.

The company said it had "facilitated" an agreement that saw the 2,900-dwt Nanoq Arctica (ex-Agnethe Arctica, built 2020) leased back to previous owner Royal Arctic Line over the long term.

NRP did not disclose the amount involved in the financing.

In March, NRP said it was carrying out a wide-ranging review of all its investments in the face of the coronavirus chaos.

The asset manager has been snapping up bulker tonnage in recent months, in cooperation with shipowners such as Empros Lines and W Marine.

The company’s shipping funds had an interest in 24 vessels worth a combined $300m in 2018, including product tankers.
