Splosna Plovba has sold two more Chinese-built supramaxes as it continues to trim its dry bulk fleet, according to US and European brokers.
The Peter Dohle Schiffahrts-controlled shipowner is believed to have got $6.8m for its 56,800-dwt Trenta (built 2010), which was built at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry. Its special survey is due.
Brokers also reported that the company has sold the Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding-constructed 53,000-dwt Nova Gorica (built 2008) for $6.6m. Its special survey is not due until August 2023.
Both ships are understood to be linked to Indonesian buyers.
Slovenia-based Splosna and Germany's Peter Dohle did not respond to requests for comment. Both ships are still listed in Peter Dohle's fleet.
If the sale of the Trenta and Nova Gorica were to materialise, Splosna would be left with two supramax bulkers and a panamax containership.
The Nova Gorica was reported sold in January for $8m, but that deal failed to materialise. VesselsValue said the Trenta is worth $7.9m.
In April last year, Splosna got $10m for the Chinese-built, 56,600-dwt bulker Tamar (built 2010), which went to Ocean Tianyong Shipping of China. The Trenta was reported to have been sold at that time for the same price, but no deal was finalised.
One of Splosna's two containerships, the 4,043-teu Maribor (built 2005), was sold for scrap last year for $443 per ldt.
Peter Dohle is primarily a containership owner, operating about 300 ships. It also owns and operates 40 bulkers and has 25 multipurpose ships.
The Hamburg-based shipowner increased its stake in Splosna in 2007 to gain majority control. At that time, the Slovenian company had a fleet of around 20 ships.
