Portline Bulk International has reportedly sold its only capesize bulker as new details of its vessel disposals emerge.

Brokers said the Portuguese shipowner has offloaded the 176,000-dwt Ina (built 2003), which has been in the company's fleet since it was new.

The price of the ship was not disclosed.

Much would depend on when the sales process kicked off for the vessel. In November, the Ina was estimated to be worth some $9.1m. Today, the Universal Shipbuilding-constructed vessel could fetch than $1m more than that.

Executive director Jorge Fernandes did not reply to requests for comment.

Brokers also said the company has disposed of the 56,000-dwt Port Canton (built 2012), with the price tag on that deal also unknown.

UK-based online platform VesselsValue says the bulker now is worth $10.4m.

However, brokers have previously reported sales of that ship that did not finalise.

In November, several of the oldest bulkers in Portline's fleet were reported sold, including the Port Canton. Fernandes dismissed those reports at the time.

Brokers have also now said that one of the oldest bulkers in the fleet, the 50,000-dwt Achilleus (built 2001), was sold to Wuhan Prosperous Shipmanagement of China and has been renamed V Honor. The ship was previously reported to have changed hands in an October deal that also did not finalise.

Portline did succeed in disposing of nine bulkers last year, included a deal in October to sell the 52,000-dwt Angela (built 2004) to Hong He Shipping of China for some $5m.

The company’s website lists 14 bulkers, dominated by eight ultramaxes that are on average two years old.
