Baltic Shipping and Risor Shipping have formed a new venture, Baltic Bulk, which its founders describe as a “visionary vessel operating and freight-trading company”.
In a statement on its website, Baltic Bulk said: “We specialise in handysize and supramax bulk shipping, but with an end-to-end approach where we leverage synergies between the coaster, mini-bulk and handysize segments to deliver unparalleled flexibility and service.”
Anders Svarrer, who has over 20 years of experience in shipping, will be CEO.
He previously worked in chartering at Union Bulk, TKB Shipping and Larsen & Nicolaisen.
The company said: “By maximising synergies across shortsea and deepsea trades, Baltic Bulk ensures streamlined, cost-effective operations for clients ranging from cargo traders to end-users.”
Thomas Christensen, CEO of Risor, said: “As a new player in the bulk market, building strong partnerships is key to our success, and, together with Baltic Bulk and Baltic Shipping, we are now positioned to offer an expansive range of shipping services.”
Risor owns two dry bulk vessels, both of which are under the commercial management of Baltic Shipping
Ronnie Hulstrom, CEO of Baltic Shipping, said: “As one of Denmark’s leading bulk shipping companies, we are committed to strengthening the European bulk shipping ecosystem. Co-founding Baltic Bulk is a natural extension of our business, providing our clients with access to an even broader fleet and enhanced service offerings.”
Baltic Bulk will be based in the same offices as Baltic Shipping in Hillerod, Denmark.
Baltic Shipping, founded in 1950, specialises in chartering, ship agency, ship management, project cargo, vessel operations and stevedoring for all kinds of commodities.
The company commercially manages a fleet of more than 95 dry cargo vessels, ranging from 1,100 dwt to 14,000 dwt, trading in the European shortsea market.
