Star Bulk has confirmed the sale of one of its older supramax bulkers at the same time as it fleet swelled with the arrival of larger vessels purchased last year.

Petros Pappas-led Star Bulk said the 52,400-dwt Star Delta (built 2000) has been sold and was delivered to her new owner on 8 January.

No price was disclosed for the Japan-built supramax, but VesselsValue estimates the ship to be worth $7.3m.

When talk of the sale first hit the market in late November, brokers said buyers from the Middle East had paid $6.5m for the ship, as TradeWinds reported previously.

VV data says the ship has been sold to unknown Middle Eastern interests and has been renamed Prince M.

It is currently at anchor outside Singapore, according to latest AIS data.

Separately, Star Bulk has confirmed it took delivery of the 180,000-dwt capesize vessels ER Brandenburg and ER Bourgogne (both built 2010) on 7 and 14 January respectively.

The latter ship has already been renamed Star Marianne.

The US- and Oslo-listed bulker owner purchased the Korea-built vessels plus the 55,700-dwt ER Brighton in September from ER Capital Holding for a combined sum of $59.4m, payable in cash and shares.

Star Bulk also has options to acquire the 180,000-dwt ER America, ER Bayonne, ER Borneo and ER Buenos Aires, which would be exercised at a price of between $105.4m and $115.4m.

The Petros Pappas-led owner has yet to confirm the further acquisition.
