Technomar Shipping has trimmed its bulker fleet with the sale of a 10-year-old supramax.
European brokers said the Greek bulker and containership owner has sold the 57,000-dwt Xenofon XL (built 2010) to an undisclosed buyer.
The Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard-built vessel, which is due for a special survey, has reportedly fetched $7.2m, brokers said.
That is lower than the $9.17m estimate by valuation platform VesselsValue as prices slide for bulkers of the Xenofon XL's characteristics.
But Orion Bulkers of Germany has also reportedly sold a very similar vessel, the Chinese-built 57,000-dwt Fulham (built 2010), for $7.5m. This ship is also due for special survey.
Neither Technomar nor Orion could be reached for immediate comment. The Xenofon XL and Fulham are not fitted with ballast treatment equipment.
George Youroukos-led Technomar bought the Xenofon XL for $9.8m in the summer of 2017, when it was the Privmed.
Technomar is listed with 23 bulkers, of which 18 are supramaxes with an average age of 10 years. Technomar also has five panamax bulkers and 15 containerships.
In other supramax deals, a slightly older, Japanese-built bulker has fetched a slightly higher price.
Toshin Kisen's 56,000-dwt bulker Noble Halo (built 2008) was sold for $7.9m, brokers said. The undisclosed buyers said to have waived an inspection.
