An AP Moller-Maersk-operated ultra-large container ship which lost about 40 boxes in the North Sea has unloaded its remaining containers in Poland.
The 18,340-teu Mayview Maersk (built 2014) lost the containers as storm Pia swept through Northern Europe.
The incident happened after the ship had left the German port of Bremerhaven on 21 December.
Debris from four of the lost boxes has washed up on the coast of Demark. The remaining containers have not yet been located.
The Danish-flagged Mayview Maersk has unloaded damaged boxes at the Baltic Hub Container Terminal at Gdansk Poland.
Ship casualty claims specialists WK Webster reported that the damage to containers was limited to berth 74.
It is not known how many containers were damaged in the storm.
AIS data indicates the ship remains moored at Gdansk.
Maersk has said it is continuing to search for the ship’s missing containers, which could pose a safety risk to shipping in the area.
The Mayview Maersk is entered with the Britannia P&I Club.
As earlier reported by TradeWinds, the Hurtigruten 16,000-gt cruise ship Maud (built 2003) also lost power after it was hit by a rogue wave during storm Pia.
