A Dutch general cargoship has been brought into a Spanish port after suffering flooding.
The 13,100-dwt open-hatch vessel Zealand Delilah (built 2011) had 15 crew members on board when the water ingress began 48 km from the Sisargas Islands, Spanish rescue agency Salvamento Maritimo said.
The master requested a port of refuge on Sunday afternoon, the agency added.
A response vessel was sent out and escorted the cargoship into A Coruna on Sunday night. A helicopter was also scrambled and verified there had been no pollution.
Footage shows the ship heavily down by the bow as water flooded its front compartments.
The vessel had been en route from Las Palmas in the Canary Islands to Amsterdam with 8,600 tonnes of cocoa beans.
La Voz da Galicia newspaper reported the ship was undergoing a mandatory inspection by port state control officials on Monday.
A fire line was found to have a leak, the report added.
Operator Zealand Shipping has been contacted for further information
The cargo vessel has a clean port state control record going back to 2011. It is entered with the UK P&I Club.
