An MR1 product tanker belonging to Indonesian shipowner Global Maritim Industri suffered a fire while docked at Jurong Port Tank Terminals (JPTT) in Singapore on Wednesday morning.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said that it was informed that a blaze had broken out on the 37,155-dwt Rosa Dini (built 2003) at 07h30 local time.
Smoke was observed on the forward part of the tanker, which had arrived from Indonesia on Tuesday.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force marine and land-based firefighting forces, MPA patrol craft, and JPTT’s emergency response unit responded were immediately deployed.
“The fire was extinguished at about 09h25 hours, and the tanker’s crew are all safe and accounted for. There is no damage to the tanks and berths at JPTT,” the MPA said.
“As a precautionary measure, operations at the adjacent berths have stopped and a nearby vessel at the berth has been shifted to the anchorage.
“Port operations and vessel traffic in the vicinity are not affected.”
The Rosa Dini has been under Global Maritim ownership since being acquired as Rosa Tomasos from Super-Eco Tankers in 2018 for a reported $8.5m.
The Indonesian-flagged tanker has P&I coverage from the London P&I Club, according to S&P Global data.
The Medan-based company operates a fleet of 11 product tankers and an LPG carrier, could not be immediately reached for comment.
