The Argentinean navy was called in to help fight a fire that broke out on a product tanker.
Naval personnel and volunteer firefighters tackled the engine room blaze on the 9,000-dwt Di Giunta E (built 1981) with cooling foam, the Elonce website reported.
Photos showed white smoke billowing from the stern on Monday.
The tanker was moored at Arroyo La Cruz on the Parana de las Palmas river.
An investigation has begun into the fire.
No injuries or pollution were reported.
Equasis lists the vessel as in the process of converting or rebuilding as of this summer.
The operator is Copanu Argentina, which could not be contacted.
The tanker is listed as classed by Norway's DNV GL.
There is no record of port state control inspections.
