Two more attacks have been reported on shipping in the Red Sea overnight, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) body.

In the first attack — incident 107 — the master of a vessel reported an explosion some distance from the vessel 63 nautical miles (117 km) south-west of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah in the Red Sea on Monday evening.

In the early hours of Tuesday, a small craft was seen closing in and flashing lights towards the vessel, and two hours after that another explosion was seen closer by.

The vessel and crew were reported safe and are proceeding to the next port of call, the UKMTO report added.

An update later on Tuesday said the ship was then attacked by a sea drone, which was “successfully disabled”.

Separately, in the early hours of Tuesday, the UKMTO said that a vessel witnessed an explosion while it was 97 nautical miles north-west of Hodeidah.

Security company Ambrey Analytics advised vessels to transit the region with caution, halt deck movements and minimise bridge manning.

“Vessels are advised to maintain a five nautical mile distance from other vessels where possible. Vessels are advised to remain alert for small boat activity and report accordingly,” Ambrey added.

These are the first known attacks since Friday, when a Delta Tankers vessel faced a series of Houthi attacks using grenade launchers, missiles and air and sea drones.
