Three seafarers have died following a poisonous gas leak on a tanker in the Philippines.

The Philippine Star cited local police as saying the tragedy involved crew on the 2,000-dwt Andrina 200 (built 2016) at Calaca in Batangas in Monday.

The dead men were named as Enrique Jay Gaspado, John Rey Illustrisimo and Ryan Jay Bantilan.

They were found unconscious by colleagues but were pronounced dead on arrival in hospital, police said.

Owner Fanrong Shipping Corp, of Cebu, could not be contacted. The ship is listed as its only vessel.

The tanker is insured by the Shipowners Club.

Equasis does not show any port state control inspections for the vessel.

Its Philippines flag is on the Toyko MOU and Paris white lists.
