Three more container ships formerly managed by the German division of V.Ships have found new homes.

The 3,700-teu Northern Dependant and Northern Dexterity (both built 2008) as well as the 4,600-teu Northern Power (built 2010) have left the fleet of V.Ships (Hamburg).

That leaves the German ship manager with a dozen vessels, following a wave of sales in recent years, according to Alphaliner estimates.

The vessels’ buyers include Norway’s Atlantica Shipping, which has made a return to container shipping.

The Oslo-based owner has bought the Northern Power and renamed it Atlantic Power.

The vessel has been taken with the remainder of a five-year charter attached with French liner operator CMA CGM.

The French liner took the ship in 2021 at $38,000 per day.

The Northern Dexterity has gone to investors who are taking over its current charter with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, Alphaliner said.

MSC has also emerged as the buyer of the Northern Dependant for about $21m, it is believed.

Renamed MSC Araina, the ship is the 13th that MSC has bought from the German manager, according to Alphaliner.

V.Ships grew its container business in 2019 when it took most of the fleet formerly controlled by Norddeutsche Vermogen Group.

As part of that transaction, 35 vessels were transferred to special purpose company Northern Shipping Holdings.

Today, the ship manager is left with 12 container vessels ranging from 2,500 to 8,800 teu, according to Alphaliner.
