Wallenius Wilhelmsen is welcoming back a former employee to take over its chief financial officer role.

The Oslo-listed car carrier owner said on Friday that Bjornar Bukholm would be taking over as finance chief no later than 1 May 2025, replacing Torbjorn Wist who had held the role for four years.

He will also serve as executive vice president.

Chief executive Lasse Kristoffersen said: “We are very excited to have Bjornar back in Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

“Bjornar knows our company and industry well, has a proven track record as CFO and brings wide and deep strategic and financial experience to the role.

“He has delivered outstanding results in his previous roles. I believe he will be a very valuable addition to our executive team.”

Bukholm joins from home security company Sector Alarm, where he held the chief financial officer role since 2019.

He joined the company after nearly eight years at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, where he worked in business development, strategy, finance and investor relations.

His last position at the company was senior vice president of corporate finance, strategy and investor relations.

Bukholm said: “Wallenius Wilhelmsen has always been close to my heart, and I am eager to reconnect with the team and contribute to our shared goals.

“I look forward to bringing my perspectives to the table and helping drive the strategy forward during a period where transition is essential for the industry.

“Together, we will navigate the challenges ahead and seize the opportunities to ensure continued success and value creation for our stakeholders.”

In July, the company announced that Wist would be departing for the same role at the Telenor Group.

That move was also a homecoming, as Wist spent more than a decade at the Norwegian telecoms company before joining Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

Wist is set to leave Wallenius Wilhelmsen on 1 December.

From Friday, Jermund Lien, current senior vice president of global business performance management, will act as interim chief financial officer.

He will serve in that role until Bukholm joins.
