Bahri Logistics has expanded into Asia with a new pendulum breakbulk liner service that will link Asia and Europe.

Sunday’s announcement that Bahri Line, the brand name of the service, will link the European ports of Bremerhaven, Antwerp and Montoir with the Indian port of Ennore and Tiacang and Shanghai in China through Jeddah Islamic Port marks the first time that Bahri Logistics has included Asian ports in its breakbulk liner service network.

The company said that eastward expansion formed part of its plan to widen its liner network, strengthen supply chains and diversify shipping options to, from and through Jeddah Islamic Port.

“We are excited to further expand our scope by launching our latest service line through Jeddah Islamic Port. The port’s leading operational capabilities, best-in-class standards and capacity to handle high volumes will surely serve as vital aspects of the success of this new service, helping us to cement the port and Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub linking India, China and Europe,” said Bahri Logistics president Engineer Soror Basalom.

The first sailing of the Bahri Line pendulum service departed in early February. The company did not specify the frequency of the service, nor whether additional vessels will be chartered in.

Bahri Logistics owns and operates six 26,000-dwt container-roro vessels built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in 2013 and 2014. These vessels have a 1,000-teu container capacity.

These ships have hitherto been deployed on services to Europe and the US east coast.
