An unnamed European owner has declared options for a pair ofplatform supply vessels (PSV) and signed on for two more of the PX121 designs,the Chinese shipbuilder announced today.

Its Guangdong Shipyard will deliver the two firm vessels inthe first and second quarters of 2016 while the two optional vessels must beexercised within the next six months.

Cosco did not reveal the name of the owner behind the ordersbut they are consistent with Netherlands-based Vroon which has six of thevessels under construction at the yard, according to its website and shippingdatabases

Vroon ordered its first pair of the 4,200-dwt vessels inJanuary 2013 at a total cost of $54m.

The Dutch company, which also has ten 4,000-dwt platformsupply vessels and five anchor handling tug supply vessels on order at FujianSoutheast Shipyard in China, could not be reached for comment today due to its offices being closed for the bank holiday.

Ulstein’s proprietary PX121 design has proved popular with offshorevessel owners recently including Golden Energy, Nordic American Offshore andPacific Radiance.

Cosco also said today that its Dalian shipyard willconstruct four emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRV) for an unnamed Asianowner by the first half of 2016.
