DFDS has sold one of its ro-pax ferries to French company La Meridionale.
The Copenhagen-based owner expects the sale of the Liverpool Seaways (built 1997) to raise proceeds of DKK 200m ($29.4m).
Completion of the deal and delivery of the vessel are expected in April 2020, DFDS said in a statement on Monday.
DFDS expects to book an accounting profit of around DKK 100m under special items next year.
Liverpool Seaways is currently deployed in DFDS’s Baltic route network, where it has operated since 2011.
It will be replaced by a ferry from DFDS's existing fleet, the company said.
The owner is scheduled to take delivery of three freight ro-ro newbuildings and two ro-paxes this year and in 2020.
La Meridionale currently has a three-vessel fleet that serves the Corsican ports of Bastia and Ajaccio, and Propriano and Porto Torres in Sardinia.
Meanwhile, fears around Brexit in mid-August caused DFDS to cut its full-year outlook.
The shipowner cut its core operating profit outlook for 2019 and scaled back its revenue growth forecast, as it warned of "exceptional uncertainty" around the UK’s pending exit from the European Union.
Despite the concerns, DFDS has said it is well prepared for Brexit.
