New York-listed Diana has fixed the 73,700-dwt Clio (built 2005) to Transgrain on a nine to 12 month deal.
In a statement to investors Diana said the contract was priced at $6,500 per day and would generate revenue of $1.75m.
This compares with the $9,259 per daily available in the spot market on Thursday.
With capesize rates also slipping back after a 10 day winning streak, the Baltic Dry Index fell to 1,102 points.
Brokers note reduced activity in Australia has led to some capesize owners heading for the Atlantic where stronger Brazilian shipments have been driving the market.
