Russian shipbuilder Krasnoye Sormovo is close to sealing an order for 11 new dry cargoships.

It expects to sign a contract in the first quarter of 2019 for the RSD59 project ships, Interfax cited the plant's acting director general Mikhail Pershin as saying.

Their capacity has been increased by 600 dwt to 8,000 dwt.

This is equal to loading 10 additional railway cars.

The client is not being named due to confidentiality agreements.

The yard, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation, won an order for four of the vessels from domestic owner Pola Rise in November.
