Ulrich Muller is resigning as chief executive of Oslo-listed shipowner Belships after more than seven years in the post just days after the company was taken over by Frode Teigen's Lighthouse.
He will remain with the shipowner until a successor is found. The company said its board has initiated work to find a replacement immediately.
“Belships has reached a crossroads and I feel like the time has come for others to take over the leadership of the company,” said Muller.
“Belships is a great company and I wish the company and its skilled employees the best of luck in this next chapter” he added.
Muller has been in charge at Belships since May 2011 and boasts a 35-year career in shipping including stints at Viken Marine, Spar Shipping and the Grieg Group.
Earlier this week Frode Teigen completed the takeover of Belships which has seen Sverre Tidemand reduce his holding in the company.
Belships shareholders approved the transaction in October and the merger to create a 16-vessel dry cargo company was closed on Monday.
