The Paris MOU port state control organisation has banned two cargoships detained over poor conditions for crew.
The 2,600-dwt Sea Royal (built 1976) was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, for 35 days with 53 deficiencies.
This was its third detention in three years, resulting in a three-month ban.
Inspectors found two missing certificates for watch-keeping and the seafarers' employment agreement (SEA) was not as required.
The oil record book was not properly filled and there were false records of rest, as well as an inoperative emergency fire pump and dirty conditions overall, with insufficient provisions for crew.
The ship is operated by Heaven Bay Shipping & Trading of Cairo.
It flies the flag of Comoros which is black on the current Paris MOU list.
The same ban was applied to the 1,400-dwt Akasya 1 (built 1984), operated by Ades Shipping of Turkey.
It was held with 15 deficiencies for nine days in Oristano, Italy.
There was a lack of safety training, insufficient wages and provisions, and corroded bulkheads.
It is also registered in Comoros.
