Scorpio Bulkers has added to its time charter cover ahead of the seasonally weaker first quarter.

New York-listed Scorpio Bulkers says the 60,000-dwt SBI Hera (built 2016) has been fixed out for four to six months.

Scorpio placed a $14,850 per day rate on the charter but did not disclose the other party involved.

It is the ninth time charter contract announced by the company since October.

Its third quarter report showed it had a total of 11 bulkers on time charter contracts, with today’s deal the second since added to the list.

Scorpio Bulkers has a fleet of 57 vessels, of which all bar one are owned or leased.

The latest charter comes at a time the dry cargo market has awoken from an unseasonal fourth quarter slumber.

Improvements in the panamax and capesize segment today lifted the Baltic Dry Index to 1,365 points, according to the Baltic Exchange.
