BBC Chartering has hired German shipping veteran Ulrich Ulrichs as its new chief commercial officer.
Ulrichs is best known for his time at Rickmers and was chief executive of Rickmers Line before it was taken over by the fast-growing Zeaborn group.
He left Zeaborn last October of his own accord to seek new challenges, TradeWinds reported at the time.
At BBC Chartering he will take charge of global commercial business development activities, according to a statement released on Monday.
“Ulrichs is an experienced industry leader with a demonstrated history in international shipping and the proven ability in managing and developing family-owned shipping businesses,” his new employer said.
Executives Roelf Briese and Svend Andersen said: “His addition is an important step to lead BBC Chartering into the future, and to further build the market’s most trusted and highest performing global project carrier.”
BBC Chartering is a leader in the heavy-lift and project cargo business with 170 ships in its fleet ranging from 3,500-dwt to 37,300-dwt.
