Greece’s Thenamaris has become the latest shipowner to find the temptations of Singapore’s maritime scene impossible to ignore.

It recently opened an office there, its first in Asia, which will provide commercial and marine management services to its managed fleet trading in the Asia Pacific market.

Lantern party

To mark the occasion, the Martinos family outfit hosted a party at Lantern, at the Fullerton Bay Hotel, which was attended by more than 250 guests.

Prior to the event, Thenamaris chief executive Nikolas Martinos paid a courtesy call to Singapore’s Ministry of Transport, where he met Lam Pin Min, senior minister of state for health and transport, and officials from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

The Thenamaris fleet comprises more than 90 ships under management across all the major industry segments, including tankers, bulkers, containerships, LNG and LPG.

The company is overseeing the construction of five newbuildings: three scrubber-fitted aframax crude carriers at Japan’s Sumitomo Heavy Industries and two LNG carriers at South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries.
