CMA CGM is said to be clearing out two boxships acquired via its takeover of Neptune Orient Lines.
The French line is scrapping the 4,400-teu pair APL Turquoise and APL Tourmaline (built 1996), brokers and cash buyers report.
A price of $270 per ldt is being placed on the pair, which are said to be heading for green recycling in India.
At this level, the double disposal will be worth $11.56m to CMA CGM.
It has yet to respond for requests for comment on the matter.
The double sale comes at a time of renewed urgency in the scrapping of containerships, with at least four other vessels heading for the breakers’ beaches in the past week, according to GMS.
As TradeWinds reported last week the 4,546-teu Viktoria Wulff (built 2006) became the youngest undamaged containership to be scrapped in more than 30 years.
