Danish vessel optimisation company ZeroNorth is pairing with data-driven communication platform Sedna to hook up their technologies to hone the two companies’ maritime email traffic so it can provide them with more insightful and actionable information.
The new partners said their agreement will more closely integrate their technologies and solutions, initially focused on unlocking information buried inside the many emails received by shipping professionals each day.
While Sedna’s platform is designed to unlock “the hidden value of information” found inside emails and add context to enable smarter working, ZeroNorth aims to turn data into actionable insights, including the interpretation of vessel data coupled with factors such as weather conditions to optimise voyages.
Help companies
Announcing their new collaboration at this year’s Nor-Shipping in Norway, the two claim it will benefit organisations across the value chain, from shipowners and operators to charterers and fuel suppliers.
“As the partnership evolves, ZeroNorth and Sedna will explore how they can make user data securely interoperable between the two platforms,” the companies said.
This means customers of both organisations will be able to decisively act not just based on the summary of emails that they receive in the Sedna platform, but also use ZeroNorth’s complex AI-driven algorithms and machine-learning capabilities to turn this data into an easily digestible and actionable summary.
ZeroNorth chief executive Soren Meyer said the new partnership closely aligns with the company’s vision of green global trade.
“Together, we will work on solutions and integrations that enable the maritime industry to rationalise, understand and act on the immense wealth of data it already handles on a daily basis, all to enable more sustainable and profitable outcomes for our customers.”
Sedna founder and chief executive Bill Dobie said: “For effective chartering and voyage operation, the maritime industry has to action an incredible amount of fast-moving data on a daily basis.”
He said the two will explore how best to harness AI over the following months and, with ZeroNorth’s commitment to creating a positive environmental impact, how to “rise to the challenge of building a greener, digital future for shipping”.
