ABN AMRO has bolstered is ship finance team in Singapore with the addition of two top shipping bankers.

The Dutch bank has appointed Christian Nolting and Nicolay Kuhnle as directors in its global transportation & logistics Asia-Pacific team.

Based in Singapore, Nolting and Kuhnle will support Asia-Pacific head of transportation & logistics Darryl Tan in expanding the bank’s coverage particularly with clients in its shipping segment.

Nolting joins ABN AMRO from German bank NORD/LB where he was deputy head of ship finance for Asia Pacific.

He started his career with Deutsche Bank in Germany before relocating to Asia in 2008 and is said to possessing a strong credit risk background.

“In previous roles, he originated, structured and led shipping transactions while strengthening the strategic dialogue with maritime clients,” ABN AMRO said in a statement.

Kuhnle joins the Asia Pacific team from ABN AMRO’s tansportation & logistics office in Oslo, where he was involved in several milestone transactions with shipping and offshore clients.

He is said to have previous experience working as a shipbroker and with a shipping company.

“ABN AMRO’s global transportation & logistics business has steadily built a trusted reputation for its relationship-focused bankers with strong sector-based knowledge and expertise. We want to continue growing with our clients, as we support their long-term ambitions,” said Tan.

Tan himself has only been head of transportation and logistics for Asia for ABN AMRO since November last year.

He took over from Perry van Echtelt who left to become the new chief financial officer of product tanker specialist BW Pacific.

Tan join ABN AMRO in 2012, but initially started his career at AP Moller-Maersk in a variety of functions before switching to banking in 2005.

Since then he worked at Nordea Bank in Singapore and subsequently with Societe Generale in Singapore and Hong Kong.
