Jens Mahnke will step down as chief executive of Hamburg-based shipping asset manager Ernst Russ after its next general meeting.

Executive Board member Ingo Kuhlmann will also leave the company on 31 March, a statement said Tuesday.

“Jens Mahnke and Ingo Kuhlmann led our company into a safe harbour in difficult times and created a stable base for the ongoing development of the company,” Alexander Stuhlmann, chairman of Ernst Russ’ supervisory board, said.

Mahnke was appointed as Ernst Russ’ chief executive in July 2016, having joined the company’s Executive Board in March that year, following the acquisition of the Konig & Cie Group.

Ernst Russ said the board members will be independently self-employed, but will remain closely connected to the company.

Successors for Mahnke and Kuhlmann have not yet been announced.

Separately, the company said Robert Gartner would move from its supervisory board to its Executive Board as of 1 March.
