Fincantieri and France are reportedly close to an agreement on the ownership of STX France.
The two sides are about to reach a compromise that will see the Italian shipbuilder take control of the yard without having majority ownership, Le Monde reports.
According to the report, Fincantieri would take a stake of around 45% to 49% while one or more partners of Fincantieri would take another 10% slice.
During the STX France sell-off, the government has been very open to bidders but cautious over giving away a majority stake.
If the deal is completed, France should maintain its current 33% stake and part-nationalized French navy builder DCNS would take 10% or more.
Fincantieri is in expansion mode in the past few months and has won big orders for cruiseships from Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and Carnival.
