KfW IPEX-Bank has appointed Sebastian Blum head of mobility.

He will head the German export bank’s business within maritime industries, aviation and land-based transport.

Blum has worked for the Frankfurt-based lender since 2006. He has been director of the representative office in Sao Paulo and team head in the maritime industry and energy sectors.

He comes from a position as director and team head for origination and structuring within renewable energy.

“After way too short a time with our great, highly skilled energy team, I am happy to take over the role as global head of our mobility department,” he said in a post on LinkedIn.

“Working on complex and exciting renewable energy projects for our ambitious clients gave me deep insights into very dynamic, competitive markets and sophisticated financing structures, as well as a better understanding of the real challenges for the energy transition.”

Carsten Wiebers was previously head of mobility at KfW IPEX-Bank. The veteran shipping banker left the company last November after 25 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

KfW IPEX-Bank is responsible for the export and project finance business area within the KfW Group.

It had a total balance sheet of €25.9bn ($28.2bn) at the end of 2022.
