Seaspan has paid down more debt, adding eight more ships to its roster of unencumbered vessels.
The New York-listed boxship owner said Wednesday afternoon that it has prepaid a credit facility secured by eight of its vessels.
This has brought the number of debt free ships in its fleet to 32, or just over a quarter of its fleet.
"In line with our corporate goals, Seaspan continues to reduce leverage and streamline its capital structure, which will enhance our balance sheet flexibility going forward," chief financial officer Ryan Courson said in a statement.
Of its unencumbered fleet, 10 are 2,500-teu ships and another 14 are 4,250-teu.
It has two each with a capacity of 3,500-teu, 8,500-teu, 9,600-teu and 10,000-teu.
Seaspan has been slowly pre-paying its credit facilities, releasing ships. In the third quarter, the number of unencumbered ships was 18. The figure jumped to 24 in November.
The company owns 112 containerships.
