Croatian shipowner Uljanik Plovidba has revealed one of its MR tankers was arrested in Australia over a late payment of crew wages.

The 53,000-dwt Pomer (built 2011) was held in Gladstone, the company said on Monday.

It added in a stock exchange filing that the vessel was detained despite salaries being paid before the tanker arrived in port.

Pomer was to be freed once Uljanik had provided authorities with information on the payment from its banks.

The detention does not affect the smooth running of the port, the shipowner added.

AIS data showed the vessel underway off the port on Tuesday.
