Kazuhiko Yoshida is retiring from the diversified Singapore-listedJapanese firm when his contract expires at the end of the month.

He co-founded the company in 1997 and became chairman in2008 at the height of the global financial crisis.

Michio Tanamoto will make the step up from his current roleas chief operating officer to become the new boss.

Uni-Asia has four bulkers on order – two handysize and twosupramaxes – for delivery between 2015 and 2016.

The company holds stakes of various sizes in fifteen ships –a mixture of bulkers, containerships and product tankers.

In late 2010 it established its own shipping operation –Uni-Asia Shipping with a focus on 100% or majority ownership.

Uni-Asia’s vessels are on charter to the likes of PacificBasin, Norden, Torm, Evergreen, NYKGB and Daiichi Chuo Kisen.
