Outgoing Flex LNG chief executive Jonathan Cook is expected to head back to the US next month after stepping down from the John Fredriksen-led company in a surprise move this week.

US citizen Cook, who declined to comment when contacted by TradeWinds, is set to remain in London during June, sources said. The LNG sector is alive with speculation about his next move.

The appointment of Flex board member Marius Hermansen as interim chief executive in tandem with the recent acquisition of a new chartering head, Marius Foss, who defected from his position as Golar LNG senior vice president and head of shipping, has also set tongues wagging in the industry.

Both Hermansen and Foss have worked closely with Fredriksen at Frontline.

The appointments are seen as the Flex owner’s move to draw in a team of known Norwegian associates to steer his LNG venture.
