John Fredriksen has upped his LNG carrier newbuilding haul to five vessels.

TradeWinds understands that an LNG carrier newbuilding — inked last week at DSME for John Fredriksen’s private Seatankers Management — was an optional berth slot, bringing the total for the owner at the South Korean yard to three units.

Marius Hermansen, acting as the interim chief executive of Fredriksen’s gas vehicle, Flex LNG, was shown signing the deal on 5 July for one 173,400-cbm LNG carrier at DSME.

The M-type, electronically controlled gas-injection vessel is due for delivery in 2020.

In addition, Fredriksen has contracted a pair of LNG carriers at Hyundai Heavy Industries.

His interests signed up to two 174,000-cbm vessels for 2020 delivery dates.
